About Lighthouse

Lighthouse Editorial is a small, independent magazine about architecture, urbanism and the lives behind buildings. We publish one long-form essay every Thursday and a short letter every Sunday. We do not run banner advertising and we are not owned by a property developer or a planning consultancy.

The magazine was started in late 2024 by Anneli Soosaar and Marko Ilves, two architects who had spent a decade writing trade-press dispatches and wanted somewhere quieter to think out loud. We are based in Tallinn and Helsinki, and we have a rotating circle of contributors across Europe.

Our editorial line, in one sentence: cities are made of small decisions and the people who fight over them, and most of the interesting questions are not aesthetic ones.
